Gastown grooves for Make Music Vancouver 0
More than 160 musicians performed Thursday evening for Make Music Vancouver, a free music festival commemorating World Music Day.
Amateur and professional players alike crowded 40 mini-sidewalk stages along Gastown's Water Street, which was closed to traffic at 6 p.m.
From brass to blues, pop, folk, and rock, all genres of music were featured during the event, which was expected to attract 30,000 people.
Coinciding with the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, the festival took on an environmentally friendly theme and featured a bike valet service at the intersection of Water and Alexander.
