Workers at three B.C. government liquor facilities to strike 0
Workers at three government Liquor Distribution Branch facilities are expected to strike through Tuesday, with the first picket line beginning Monday night in Vancouver.
The B.C. Government and Services Employees' Union is asking its members to join picketing at Vancouver's main distribution warehouse and customer centre at East Broadway and Rupert, the Kamloops distribution warehouse and Victoria wholesale customer centre.
The union argues its members wages have not increased in three years, that there's been no business plan made for the government's privatization of distribution warehouses, and that the province should open all liquor stores on Sundays to make more money.
The union booked out of negotiations last week and voted to strike Friday.
All strike actions will conclude by 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
