Carly Rae Jepsen alleged sex tape surfaces
Singer Carly Rae Jepsen denies ever appearing in a sex tape leaked online after grainy footage of a woman (pictured) resembling Jepsen spread across the Internet Monday.
International pop idol and Mission, B.C. native Carly Rae Jepsen quickly took to social media Monday to deny rumours she appeared in a leaked sex tape.
"Crazy morning. Discovered that someone put up a sex tape claiming to be me. Ridiculous. Obviously not me," the singer wrote on Twitter.
Grainy video footage of a woman closely resembling Jepsen engaged in intimate acts with a male companion began spreading across the Internet in the early afternoon.
Following the release of the sex tape, Twitter was overflowing with comments from people weighing in on the situation - many of whom remained skeptical it was indeed the singer in the video.
"I don't believe that Carly Rae Jepsen actually made the sex tape.you can't even say it looks like her," one Twitter user wrote.
Another fan used the social media to express sympathy for the singer.
"I actually feel sorry for Carly Rae Jepson though.it must be horrible because loads of people actually think its her in the sex tape."
However, many tweets consisted of people making jokes at the expense of Jepsen's hit "Call Me Maybe."
"So apparently carly rae jepsen is in a sex tape??? i guess that guy did end up calling her," wrote one user.
A virtual unknown just a year ago, the local singer shot to meteoric heights following the release of her aforementioned hit single.
Jepsen embarks on a 50-city North American tour with fellow Canadian singing sensation Justin Bieber beginning September.
