A local student is on a mission to connect others with university research opportunities.

Japreet Lehal, a Simon Fraser University health sciences undergraduate, has launched Go Research, a website for institutions to advertise student research positions.

The 18-year-old got the idea after having difficulty finding work in a research lab.

"There was this vacancy there. There was nothing to facilitate connection between the teacher and the student."

University staff suggested contacting professors to ask if they would take him on. But "in this age of tech" he felt there had to be a better way of connecting researchers with students.

Ultimately, Lehal hopes to help eliminate barriers to getting people involved in research.

"What I want to make is a world where you or I or anyone can do research."
