Study to examine plants recycling mine waste 0

STEVEN CHUA, 24 HOURS

University of B.C. scientists and international researchers announced a $1.4-million study to examine how plants, such as corn, can be used to absorb and recycle waste metals from mining.

They speculate the recovered materials could be used in catalytic converters on vehicles to reduce air emissions and as a kick-starter for converting crude oil into petroleum.
