Langley 'Project X' party a no-show: Cops 0
Fears thousands of teens with party in mind would show up at a Walnut Grove 'Project X' party this weekend were never realized, according to Langley RCMP.
The event, named after a 2012 theatre comedy of the same name, had Mounties prepared to face down more than 2,000 teens invited to an area house party. "Numerous" roadblocks were set up Saturday night into Sunday morning, with more than a dozen auxiliary officers called in as backup.
"There was good feedback from the Langley communities - the city and the township - about the increased police presence for this weekend," said Staff Sgt. Bob Ginn Sunday.
"It's the community we look after. If they're happy, we're happy."
The Saturday before, on Aug. 18, Mission Mounties also broke up a 'rave' with 1,500 expected prior to it beginning.
About 30 people were setting up a stage and sound system at an outdoor forest area when police arrived. The set was dismantled and rave-goers were turned away by roadblocks.
