Coquitlam Mounties will beef up patrols around the city Friday night after a plan was leaked through social media for a Project X party meant to attract thousands of young people to a Como Lake Village home.

A similar shindig, inspired by a film depicting a raucous bash that left a neighbourhood in ruins, never came to fruition last week in Langley after RCMP caught wind of the plans.

"Anyone planning to throw one of these events, or go to one in (Coquitlam), should know that we are doing everything we can to be the ultimate party-poopers," Cpl. Jamie Chung said.
