Man shot to death in Surrey car park

A man was gunned down near his wife and child in a car outside a Surrey strip mall Thursday afternoon in what police call a targeted killing.

Homicide investigators were called in after the 37-year-old man died in hospital of multiple gunshot wounds, about a half hour after being shot.

"This apparent targeted shooting occurred in broad daylight in a highly populated public area where many businesses are located. The potential for further victims was high and this selfish act of violence is not taken lightly by investigators," said Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Police are looking for witnesses at the 6800 block King George Boulevard area around 2:45 p.m.
