Suspect arrested after police chase

A Burnaby man has been charged with second-degree murder following last August's stabbing death of Ronald William March in the back alley of an east Vancouver apartment building.

Lance Wraye Standberg has remained in custody since his arrest Aug. 9 for driving offences mere hours after Vancouver's sixth homicide.

Police cars were following Standberg after identifying him as a "person of interest" in the case, but the 47-year-old refused to pull over. Instead, he drove his vehicle into a police car before being arrested.

Standberg next appears in court Oct. 2. He was previously convicted in September 1998 for assault with a weapon and breach of probation.
