Obscene photo court case proceeds 0
The trial for a man in his early 20s charged with producing and distributing child pornography began in Port Coquitlam provincial court Thursday.
The charges against Dennis John Allen Warrington were related to the sexual assault of a teen at a rave party in Pitt Meadows on Sept. 10, 2010.
The young woman, who cannot be identified due to a court publication ban, alleged in September 2010 she had been raped by multiple people at the "Another Night in Bangkok" rave held at a barn in Pitt Meadows, east of Vancouver. She was 16 at the time.
Photos and videos of the attack taken with a cellphone soon surfaced on Facebook, and a 16-year-old boy pleaded guilty to the charge of making or publishing obscene matter, and in February was sentenced to one year of probation.
The current trial involves the distribution of the photos and video taken by the unnamed youth that ended up on Facebook.
A charge of sexual assault against a third man was stayed by Crown prosecutors because of insufficient evidence. The stay gives Mounties one year to find new evidence or they won't be able to proceed with the case.
