Former Burnaby city councillor Douglas Evans' family says he is not receiving proper care in a local hospital causing his health to deteriorate.
"He went in there 13 weeks ago and he could walk the dog, go grocery shopping, feed himself, dress himself and now he's basically lost it all," said daughter Elaine Evans.
Evans, 83, became disoriented and lost while out for a walk near his home on June 25. He was found by police and taken to Burnaby Hospital.
Burnaby-Edmonds MLA Raj Chouhan said Fraser Health claims there was no room to move Evans to another facility unless the family was willing to pay $4,000 a month.
Fraser Health said in statement that a patient care quality officer is reviewing the case.
