Charkaoui cleared of charges

By QMI

Adil Charkaoui, the Morocco-born Montreal resident who had been suspected of having ties to Al-Qaeda, was set free Thursday.

Following years of legal battles, the man that had been the subject of a security certificate for six years heard the federal court clear him of all suspicion in Montreal.

Ottawa believes he is a dormant Al-Qaeda operative. Charkaoui was jailed for nearly two years.
