By ALTHIA RAJ, SUN MEDIA

PITTSBURGH, PA – Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced today Muskoka will play host to more world leaders next summer when the G20 as well as the G8 meet in the picturesque resort area.

The G20 is becoming a “premiere” economic forum and has proven it can be effective, said Harper who called it a “truly representative” global group.

Harper and the President of Korea, Lee Myung-bak, held a press conference Friday morning to announce the “transformative” change. Lee said the leaders had agreed on the G20’s importance at a dinner Thursday night with U.S. President Barack Obama.

“There are global challenges that the advance countries cannot resolve alone, and as we face the current global economic and financial crisis the G20 forum has proven its effectiveness and usefulness by bringing together the leaders of the both the advance countries as well as that new and emerging economies,” Lee said.
