Snowstorm headed to Toronto

By SHARON LEM, Toronto Sun

Toronto will be blanketed with snow starting Tuesday afternoon.

Environment Canada says Toronto will be on the edge of a winter storm system that is expected to bring 5-7 cm of snow. It's considerably less than the 20 cm of snow which will hit the northeastern U.S.

Washington D.C. received 65 cms of snow over the past weekend.

The snowfall will start in Toronto Tuesday afternoon and heavier snow is expected to move into the region by 7 p.m.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford is reminding motorists to slow down and drive to the conditions.

"Stay focused on the driving and disregard other distractions," Woodford said. "Despite the nice weather we've had over the past few months, motorists have to remember we're still in the winter season and to slow down with the snowy conditions."

Environment Canada's forecast says Tuesday will be cloudy with a 40% chance of flurries and reach of high of -3C. Periods of snow beginning in the evening with about 5 cm of snow

Wednesday will reach a high of -2C and have a low of -5C with a 60% chance of snow flurries and an expected snow accumulation of two more centimetres of snow.

Thursday will be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -2C and a low of -9C.

Friday will be sunny with a high of -2C and low of -10C.

More snow is expected for Saturday with a high of -2C and low of -10C and 60% chance of flurries.
