TORONTO - Visitors to Pearson International Airport can remain plugged in and turned on to Internet worlds beyond the runways.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) announced Wednesday it recently struck a marketing deal with Rogers Communications to provide free wireless local area network services in the two terminals.
Spokesman Trish Krale said links also became available Aug. 1 at the GTAA headquarters building south of the terminals.
“If you’re waiting in the terminals, it’s a great way to pass the time,” she said.
And passengers riding the free train shuttle service from parking lots to the terminals or between the buildings should be able to surf networks, Krale said in an interview.
“If you’re able to get the signal there it will work on the trains,” she said. “It depends on the signal strength.”
Pearson’s passenger research panel, which is regularly polled on a variety of subjects, was asked about WiFi service, Krale said.
“Our guests have told us that being able to stay connected while at the airport is important to them and that they expect this service to be complimentary,” Pamela Griffith-Jones, the GTAA’s chief marketing and commercial officer, said.
Toronto Pearson handled 30.4 million passengers last year.
