BELLEVILLE, Ont. - The lawyer representing two Russell Williams victims says his clients' cases against the killer ex-colonel remain in legal limbo with no hearings scheduled.

Williams is serving concurrent life sentences for the murders of Jessica Lloyd and Marie-France Comeau, plus two attacks on women and a long list of underwear thefts in eastern Ontario.

Mike Pretsell represents the plaintiffs in two of the four lawsuits stemming from Williams' court case.

Pretsell acts for Jane Doe, who was attacked by Williams in her Tweed, Ont., home in 2009. He also represents the family and estate of Lloyd.

He would not comment Wednesday on Williams' new defence in a suit filed against him by another victim, Laurie Massicotte, who is suing him for $7 million in damages.

"They're not relevant to my action - doesn't change things one way or the other," Pretsell said.

Victims of crime have two years from the date on which they learned they were victims in which to take action in civil court.

Pretsell says he's not heard of more claims, but the door is still open.

Though the parties could still settle out of court, the Doe and Lloyd suits have essentially been dormant since the last one was filed in February.
