The owner of one of Australia’s most controversial swingers resorts is pulling up his trousers and turning his back on the pleasure playground.
And while Tony Fox is encouraging Canadians investors — trudging their way through a cold January — to make him an attractive offer on The White Cockatoo getaway, he does have some words of warning that go beyond stocking up on sun and sex protection.
“(This is) an idea lifestyle opportunity for an open minded couple to operate a successful resort in paradise,” Fox, who runs The White Cockatoo with his wife Lenore, tells QMI Agency in an email exchange.
“After all, what could be better than having a business and occupation where people actually pay you to get naked?”
He’s owned the resort in the far north of Queensland for the past eight years, and is asking around $1.4 million (Can) for an adult’s only vacation spot, where according to their motto, “almost anything goes”.
Last year, the erotic escape — that also has a season set aside for clothed vacationers — made headlines Down Under when police were called in to step between battling nudists. Among other things, there was a tussle over a man who wanted to keep his pants on in the company of naked women.
Having overseen poolside sex romps by randy vacationers that have included “many Canadians”, the three-star resort’s owner is now preparing to write a book.
“Not so much a tell-all book, albeit it will contain lots of juicy stories, as we will always remain totally discreet with any specific guests details,” he assures.
Writing as the weather at the resort hovers this week around 30C, Fox says the vacation spot has weathered the global economic crisis quite well.
While he’s used to Canadians coming and going as guests to The White Cockatoo, he admits any foreign buyer would have to find a way to challenge some staid and conventional values.
Not only do many guests like the way locals have run the sex resort, Fox explains: “Many Australians…being somewhat redneck in their view that Aussie businesses should be run by Aussies, makes an actual Aussie purchaser much more likely to succeed in the future.
“However we’ll take money from anyone, anywhere, anytime.”
