A pair of Dutch TV hosts ate each other's flesh to know what it tastes like in a controversial segment to air Wednesday.

Hosts Dennis Storm and Valerio Zeno went under the knife to have a piece of muscle removed from a left butt cheek and abdomen.

The segment, to air on BNN in a show called Test Rabbits, features a chef pan-frying the tiny pieces of flesh in oil while a studio audience looks on.

Storm told ABC News the meat was nothing to write home about, but it was "weird to look into the eyes of a friend when you are chewing on his belly."

A teaser clip on YouTube shows the suit-clad hosts smelling the raw chunks of flesh in plastic bags before it is fried and eaten with cutlery at a candlelit dining table.

"It was just a few centimetres of meat," Storm said. "And now I have a good story about that scar."
