Chris Brown burger joke tasteless, customers say 0
A joke about this "black and bleu" burger was tasteless, the customers of a Georgia restaurant say. The burger is "black and bleu" because it features a blackened Caribbean spiced marinated sliced ribeye and bleu cheese. (FACEBOOK/QMI AGENCY)
A restaurant in Georgia received some backlash when it began selling the black and bleu sandwich.
While promoting the burger on its Facebook page, the management of Chops and Hops in Watkinsville wrote, "Chris Brown won't beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with a R and ends with A."
Some fans of the restaurant's Facebook page thought the joke was funny, but others thought it was in poor taste.
"What's so funny about domestic violence? My family goes here, but I'm not going anymore. I certainly don't want to have to explain to children that violence against women is some guy's idea of a funny joke," one user wrote.
The restaurant later posted that proceeds from the burger - which features a blackened Caribbean spiced marinated sliced ribeye and blue cheese - would go to Project Safe, an organization that is working to end violence against women.
"We and our staff do not support domestic violence," the restaurant's Facebook page read. "Many of us have been affected by domestic violence in some manner and realize that this is no joke."
The restaurant management also noted the burger was a special, and will not appear as a regular item on the menu.
