Couric goofs on Palin, kids' names

In raw footage of Katie Couric preparing an introduction for broadcast during the Republican national convention in 2008, the CBS anchor pokes fun at vice-president candidate Sarah Palin.

The footage was recorded shortly after John McCain picked Palin as his running mate but the five-minute video clip was just posted on YouTube on Tuesday.

In the footage, Couric lists off Palin's credentials, including hunting caribou, enjoying moose burgers, high school basketball player and a former beauty queen before interjecting, "You can't make this up."

After talking about two of Palin's children - Trig and Track - she quips, "Where the hell do they get these names?"

Couric also stumbles over the pronunciation of Palin's hometown, Wasilla, Alaska.

Couric can be heard checking the pronunciation and being coached by off-camera staff on how to say it at several points in the grainy, choppy footage.

Weeks later Couric had a contentious interview with Palin.

Some argued how Palin stumbled through the questions defined her as a candidate. Others have said Couric had an agenda going into the interview.

The interview set off a bit of a feud between the two women.

Palin has not yet publicly commented on the new footage. But right-leaning websites, like Conservatives4Palin, say the video is proof of Couric's alleged bias.

Politico reports it's Palin allies who have been distributing the footage.
