Cops are investigating after a companion of Pippa Middleton allegedly pointed a gun at paparazzi.

Prince William's famous sister-in-law was in Paris, cruising around in an Audi convertible with a group of friends.

In an exclusive U.K. Sun photo, the driver can be seen pointing a hand gun at the camera, while Pippa smiles from the front passenger seat.

The newspaper alleges the man took the gun out in broad daylight, waved it around and pointed at the photographer.

It's unknown whether the gun is real, but police told the newspaper they're investigating.

"If the evidence points to her involvement, she will be prosecuted. Anybody involved in the illegal use of a handgun in public is liable to arrest and interrogation," a police source said.

The source said if the gun is real, "all parties involved" could face seven years behind bars. Even if it's fake, the gun-toter could net two years.

France is particularly on edge about firearms after a gunman opened fire outside a Jewish school in Toulhouse, France, last month killing three kids and a rabbi.
