Woman charged after taking daughter to tanning salon 0
New Jersey mother Patricia Krentcil, 44, has been charged with child endangerment after taking her five-year-old daughter to a tanning salon.
A New Jersey mother has been charged with second-degree child endangerment after taking her five-year-old daughter to a tanning salon.
But Patricia Krentcil, 44, told the Today Show on NBC it's all a big misunderstanding — the girl's recent sunburn was from playing outside on a really sunny day.
The girl's father, Rich, said a teacher may have misunderstood the situation when their daughter told a classmate she "went tanning with mommy."
Krentcil said her daughter is in the room with her while she tans, but she isn't in the booth.
"I tan, she doesn't tan," Krentcil said.
It is illegal in New Jersey for children under the age of 14 to tan indoors.
