Canucks nail OT win over Wings 0

BOB MACKIN, 24 HOURS

- THE BUZZ

Vancouver Canuck Alexandre Burrows buried the puck behind Chris Osgood in the 27th second of overtime to beat the defending Stanley Cup champions 4-3 last night in Motor City.

- MAGIC 9

Canuck Jannik Hansen scored his first NHL goal in his ninth regular season game. Wing Tomas Holmstrom tied it two minutes later with his fourth goal in as many games, thanks to video review. Livonia, Mich.-born Ryan Kesler sent the Canucks into the dressing room with a 2-1 lead.

- GOALSI

The Wings had a goal advantage with a pair in the second by Bryan Rafalski and Dan Cleary, who emerged from the penalty box and embarrassed Roberto Luongo by shooting through the captain's pads. Canuck Willie Mitchell and Pavol Demitra combined to help Mason Raymond tie it in the third.

- EXTRA WORK

Burrows carried the puck into Detroit's zone and scored on his own rebound off the end boards.

The Canucks' 3-1 record is actually two OT wins, one regulation win and a loss. They allowed conference rivals Detroit and Calgary post-regulation charity points.

- SENDING A MESSAGE?

Canucks' coach Alain Vigneault scratched Kyle Wellwood. Well, it would've been Kyle's first Canuck game before friends and family from nearby Windsor, Ont. The Wings missed Chris Chelios (broken right tibia) and Darren McCarty (groin).
