Canucks scrap at team skate
A day after losing their eighth straight at home, the Canucks showed plenty of frustration at practice.
With Vancouver skating at UBC, an altercation between Willie Mitchell and Mason Raymond highlighted this team's state of mind.
Apparently, Mitchell hit Raymond hard on a check and when Raymond went back at the veteran D-man, Mitchell punched the youngster in the head and cross-checked him on the shoulders. Then Shane O'Brien came in to defend Raymond and challenged Mitchell to a fight. Coaches and other players intervened in time before anything got serious.
They all said that it was nothing serious.
"We need to crank it up so sometimes there's a little spill-over there," Mitchell said. "I think we need to be practicing the way we want to compete in a game, and if you do those things in practice, you'll have the right carryover to the game."
