- THE BUZZ:
After three days off for the holidays, the Canucks will return Saturday to end their eight-game home stretch against a struggling Edmonton Oilers team.
- DOUBLE THE FUN:
The two players who should enjoy the much-deserved break are Henrik and Daniel Sedin, with each recording three points Tuesday. They have had an incredible December so far, combining for 35 points in 11 games.
- SWEET HOME:
Vancouver has won five of their last seven home games and are 15-6-0 at GM Place, among the top three in the NHL. The Oilers, on the other hand, had a 7-8-2 road record going into last night's game, which puts them in the bottom third of the league.
- EYE ON 2010:
Dustin Penner will be the Oilers' only roster candidate for Team Canada, while Ales Hemsky, Ladislav Smid (Czech Republic), Lubomir Vishnovsky (Slovakia), Denis Grebeshkov and Nikolai Khabibulin (Russia) may suit up for their countries.
- LAST MEETING:
The Canucks have the upper edge so far in the season series, winning twice and losing once. Their last matchup came at the end of November when Vancouver got goals from seven different players in a 7-3 home win.
