Back in the Lions' den

By HOSEA CHEUNG

An ex-Lion is officially returning to his former den.

Three years since leaving the B.C. Lions, quarterback Casey Printers signed a practice roster contract with the club yesterday.

"I just can't wait to get back in there and sink my teeth into what's going on," said Printers in a conference call. "Really, all I'm going to do is come in and be one of the guys, come in and work my tail off, to prove again that I belong."

The Lions needed QB help this past week after first-string Jarious Jackson suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for about three to five weeks, while their other pivot Buck Pierce just returned from a concussion.

"Whatever this team asks for me to be, that's what I'm going to do," said Printers, who won the CFL Most Outstanding Player award in 2004 with the Lions. "It's about the team, and it's about the team doing one thing and that's winning the championship."

The 28 year old has not played in the CFL since two injury-filled seasons back in 2007 and 2008 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, where he threw six touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Prior to that, he spent a season with the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL after declining a three-year extension with B.C.
