Eye on Edmonton

By HOSEA CHEUNG

- THE BUZZ:

In a crucial West division battle tonight in Edmonton, the B.C. Lions (6-7) will look to break a last-place tie with the Eskimos, who have lost four of their last five.

- INJURED:

Wide receiver Paris Jackson, who won last week's CFL Canadian Player of the Week, will sit out due to a knee injury he suffered against the Roughriders last Friday. Look for both receivers Greg Hetherington and rookie import Terence Scott to get some playing time.

- DRESSED:

Quarterback Buck Pierce, who threw for 343 yards last week, will get the start again, but Casey Printers was activated from the practice roster and will be on the B.C. sidelines as the third string QB. Right tackle Jason Jimenez returns after missing a game with an ankle injury.

- KICKER SWITCH:

Sean Whyte, who missed two field goals for B.C. last week, will be staying home in Vancouver while Paul McCallum gets the kicking duties for the Lions. The 17-year CFL veteran has not played since Week 2 when he suffered a leg injury and a broken wrist.

- BACK AGAIN:

The Lions re-signed a familiar face, veteran slotback Bret Anderson, this week to play a special teams role. The firefighter, who retired after the 2009 season, fills the non-import roster void left by Jackson's injury.

- COACH TALK:

"The defence has done a good job, but the Eskimos [have] a lot of weapons and [QB] Ricky Ray makes me a little bit nervous. It's going to be a very tough game. We know they are up against the wall too, and obviously it's going to be a playoff atmosphere," said coach Wally Buono.

- LAST MEETING:

The Lions have won six of the past eight matchups between these two teams, including their one meeting so far this season during Week 3 when B.C. pounded Edmonton 40-22.
