- THE BUZZ:
The surging B.C. Lions (7-7) will look to build on their back-to-back victories Sunday as they visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (6-8), who have a three-game winning streak of their own.
- STRONG BUCK:
Quarterback Buck Pierce will hope to continue his impressive play against a Blue Bombers defence that have given up the second most passing yards this season in the CFL. Pierce threw for three touchdowns and 301 yards last game, making it the third time this year where he's gone over the 300 passing yards mark.
- MAYBE:
Running back Martell Mallett is questionable for Sunday after sitting out practice for most of this week with a foot injury. A.J. Harris took a majority of the reps yesterday, and could fill in if Mallett is not ready to go by Sunday.
- COACH TALK:
"The thing you have to look at is that you're taking a guy that's been very effective and you put in a guy that hasn't played yet," said coach Wally Buono in regards to his running back situation. "But we're going to look at the tape and we'll see what Martell feels like [Friday]."
- READY TO GO:
The Lions will have both wide receiver Paris Jackson and defensive tackle Aaron Hunt back in the line up after both were out last week due to injuries. Both receiver Emmanuel Arceneaux, who suffered a broken bone in his hand against the Eskimos, and defensive end Ricky Foley, who broke his thumb, will likely see action despite their injuries.
- EYE ON LEE:
As for newly signed rookie Jamall Lee, he will have a special teams role in his CFL debut.
- NUMBER 81:
With Jackson out last week, Geroy Simon picked up the slack, catching nine passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns including the 62 yarder with 12 seconds remaining. It was Simon's fourth 100-yard game of the season and it currently puts him third overall in the CFL this year in receiving yards.
- LAST MEETING:
Winnipeg took the first of the two games this season with a 37-10 rout of the Lions during Week 8. However, B.C. has had the advantage in the past few years, winning five of the last seven matchups.
