Hodgson heading back to Battalion

By TERRY KOSHAN, Sun Media

The Brampton Battalion has received a large shot in the arm in the form of centre Cody Hodgson.

The Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday returned Hodgson, their first-round pick in 2008, to the Battalion, which is last in the Ontario Hockey League with three losses in three games.

Hodgson had suffered a bulging disc in his back during training in June, but did not do enough in training camp to stick with the Canucks. He had just two points in six pre-season games.

Hodgson, 19, likely will be the captain for Canada at the 2010 world junior this winter in Saskatchewan.

The 2008-09 Canadian Hockey League player of the year, Hodgson had 92 points (43 goals and 49 assists) in 52 games for Brampton last season and was the Battalion’s captain.

The Battalion has scored just four goals and is the lone OHL team without a point.
