The Canucks showed Sunday that life without Daniel Sedin and Sami Salo just might not be the end of the world.

But it was only one game.

With Daniel already sidelined with a broken bone in his left foot, Salo is out after he injured his right knee during a collision early in the first period against Dallas.

He skated off grimacing in pain, and returned for a short shift moments later before heading to the dressing room for the night.

A source close to Salo told 24 hours that it's most likely not the worst case scenario - torn ACL - but Salo won't be examined until today, as the Thanksgiving holiday prevented him from getting an MRI.

"I think he got hit in the corner and jammed himself a little bit there," said coach Alain Vigneault after Sunday's game.

The Canucks (2-3-0) got a day off yesterday, and will have plenty of time to work on their game this week prior to a matchup Friday against the Calgary Flames.

One area that will require a little adjustment with the recent lineup losses is the power play, one which has a 36.8 rating (7 for 19) and sat second overall heading into last night's games.

After Salo left Sunday, Mikael Sammuelsson took over on the point, and recorded two power play assists. Alex Burrows, who scored his second career PP goal, filled in for Daniel on the top unit.

If Salo sits out this weekend, look for that same setup on the man advantage, at least to start.

Meanwhile, Henrik Sedin was named the NHL's third star of the week Monday after recording three goals and four assists over the past three games.
