It took nearly a decade, but Henrik Sedin finally has some alone time.
Things just aren't the same without twin brother and lifelong linemate Daniel on the road.
"Yeah, I get my own room," the affable Swede said with a smile. "First time in nine years."
All kidding aside, Henrik and the Canucks would love to have Daniel, who is sidelined with a broken foot, back in the lineup.
"He's a good player, so I think any team would miss a player like him," Henrik said.
"We know it'll be a while before he's back, so we just have to do our best."
Too bad for the Canucks faithful. Daniel has been especially potent against the Flames over the years piling up 47 points in 52 games.
With one half of the Sedin combination on the shelf, the Canucks recalled Michael Grabner from AHL Manitoba.
Practice makes perfect
Much has been made of Flames coach Brent Sutter's new system and how the team needs time to wrap its head around it.
That time is right now.
With five straight home games over the next 20 days, there will be plenty of time for the Flames to practice what Sutter preaches.
Forward Eric Nystrom said this gift from the schedule maker needs to be put to good use.
"We have a lot of time to work on things, so we have to make sure we're all on the same page because that's how a system works," Nystrom said.
