THE BUZZ: After starting the season 0-3, the Canucks (6-5) have now put together a three-game winning streak, moving them above .500 for the first time this year. With a 2-0 victory Sunday against the Edmonton Oilers at GM Place, Roberto Luongo also recorded his first shutout, stopping all 27 shots thrown his way.
OPENER: Michael Grabner tipped in a Christian Ehrhoff point shot on the powerplay in the first to give Vancouver the eventual winner. It was the rookie's second goal of the season, his fourth point in three games, plus he led the team with seven shots on net.
SKID OVER: Henrik Sedin broke a three-game pointless slump in the second when he redirected a Mikael Samuelsson shot past Oilers backup Jeff Deslauriers, who made 27 saves on the night. Sedin now has four goals and eight assists this season to lead the team in scoring.
S-LINE: Sergei Shirokov, who was recalled Sunday morning by the Canucks to fill in for the injured Kyle Wellwood, spent the entire game on the top line with Sedin and Samuelsson, but did not record a point and finished with 12:59 of ice time.
B-LINE: Meanwhile, Alex Burrows dropped to play alongside Steve Bernier and Alex Bolduc, but neither of the trio managed to get on the scoreboard. However, they combined for six shots, five hits, and three blocked shots in a quieter role.
HORDS: With an assist on Henrik's tally, Darcy Hordichuk tied Roberto Luongo for career points as a Canuck with six. It was also the enforcer's first point this season, and after dropping the gloves with Zack Stortini in the first period, he was a goal away from getting the coveted Gordie Howe hattrick, .
UP NEXT: Todd Bertuzzi and the Stanley Cup runner ups Detroit Red Wings will visit GM Place Tuesday in their first matchup this season against the Canucks.
