Brule finally beats bug
By ROBERT TYCHKOWSKI, SUN MEDIA

VANCOUVER -- Gilbert Brule is glad to be back in the lineup ... then again, he's glad to be anywhere other than what was starting to feel like a deathbed.

"All week, I was in bed pretty much, aching and in pain," said the Oilers centre, who was downed by a wicked case of the flu. "I couldn't get out to do anything."

He's finally getting his strength back, nearly a week after first coming down with the bug.

"It was a stomach flu, and then headaches from being exhausted and dehydrated. Achy all over."

They were starting to get worried it was something more serious, but he pulled out of it and is game ready.

"It was just a regular flu, not H1N1, it just lasted a lot longer with me than other guys."

It caused him to miss Edmonton's game with Columbus, the team that drafted, rushed and subsequently gave up on him. He had the Jackets circled on his calendar.

"It's tough, I really wanted to be back for that game, obviously," he said.
