Grapes would go with Sharks attack

By SUN WIRE SERVICES

With less than six weeks to go until Steve Yzerman unveils Team Canada, Don Cherry thinks he's found a first line.

The outspoken host of the CBC's Coach's Corner says the Canadian men's Olympic team needs to put three Sharks front and centre at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

"Right off the bat, I don't know how they can get anybody else -- first line's gotta be (Joe) Thornton, (Patrick) Marleau and (Dany) Heatley," Cherry said yesterday.

Thornton, Marleau and Heatley comprise the first line for the San Jose Sharks, and all three players were in the top 10 in league scoring entering last night's action.

Bad-luck Leclaire

OTTAWA -- Senators starting goaltender Pascal Leclaire will be sidelined about a month with a broken cheekbone.

He suffered the injury while sitting on the bench during Monday's game against Washington.

A dump-in attempt by Senators centre Mike Fisher struck a stick and sailed into the Ottawa bench, rebounding off the glass and off the right side of Leclaire's face.

Briere suspended

The NHL announced that it has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere two games for a late hit on Colorado Avalanche defenceman Scott Hannan.

Briere will miss tonight's game against the Islanders and Friday's game in Buffalo, and will forfeit $67,358 US in pay.
