Alexandre Burrows is set to more than double his salary under terms of a four-year contract extension he signed Friday.
The 31-year-old winger will make an average of $4.5 million annually, according to multiple reports. He was about to enter the final season of a four-year contract worth $2 million annually. Burrows could have become an unrestricted free agent after the coming season.
"Me and my family really like it here in Vancouver, we like the organization, it's a team that wants to win and wants to win the Stanley Cup and that's exactly what I want to do," Burrows told canucks.com. "It makes sense for me to get a deal done, and to be here for another five years will be a lot of fun."
Burrows had 28 goals and 24 assists in 80 games last season. The native of Pincourt, Que., has spent seven seasons with the Canucks, most notably as a linemate for Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
