Canadians rule roost

Manuel Osborne-Paradis was super on a stage he's not known for.

The Vancouver skier made up for a disappointing downhill run Saturday by winning yesterday's World Cup Super G race at Lake Louise.

This was Osborne-Paradis' seventh career podium finish. He placed ahead of second-place finisher Benjamin Raich of Austria by .24 seconds and Michael Walchhofer of Austria in third place by .62 seconds.

"I have said over and over again that a top-10 [finish] in the World Cup is good," said Osborne-Paradis. "On the guy side, on any given weather and any given little bump, a top-10 is good. The best guys are always top-10."

Osborne-Paradis has been known more for his success as a downhill skier, but with the victory in yesterday's Super G, he is starting to show he is becoming a well-rounded racer.

"For those who have been on the team, we have seen a great improvement," said Canadian teammate Erik Guay.

Canadians had a strong showing in the Super G event, with three skiers making it into the top-10. Guay just missed the podium himself, finishing in fourth place - .13 seconds back of Walchhofer. Whistler, B.C.'s Robbie Dixon placed fifth.

"The worst thing is when the whole team is training together, you are close time-wise, and every time, it is a different winner," said Osborne-Paradis. "Then, when you get to a race, there is one guy that does well."
