Bracing for Impact

By BOB MACKIN

- THE BUZZ:

Who'd have guessed the Vancouver Whitecaps would carry a 9-9-9 record to Montreal for a meeting with the Impact on the ninth day of the ninth month of 2009? That's the scenario for the teams' 4:45 p.m. kickoff today at Saputo Stadium.

- UNBEATENS:

The 11-10-6, fifth-place Impact is on a roll with four wins and a tie in the last five games. The seventh-place Whitecaps are unbeaten in seven, but that includes just two wins. Both teams have three games remaining.

- RUBBER MATCH:

The Caps won in both Canadian Championship matches, but Montreal registered wins when the teams played twice in USL action. The Impact leads 25-13-6 all-time.

- NEXT:

The Caps return home to mess with Texans again. The Austin Aztex return to Swangard Stadium Sunday for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
