Vancouver Whitecaps' stirker Marcus Haber and defender/midfielder Wes Knight were nominated United Soccer Leagues' First Division rookie of the year finalists yesterday.
Midfielder Sullivan Silva of the expansion Austin Aztex is the other contestant. The winner will be announced during a Friday news conference to kick-off the two-game, total goals championship between the Caps against the Montreal Impact.
Haber, 20, scored eight goals. Long throw-in specialist Knight, 23, had eight assists.
Game one is Saturday at Swangard Stadium at 6:30 p.m. The series concludes in Montreal at 11:30 a.m. Pacific on Oct. 17.
