TFC offers Egypt's Saied tryout

By STEVEN SANDOR, QMI Agency

Toronto FC confirmed Wednesday that veteran Egyptian defender Ibrahim Saied has been offered a tryout.

The defender was quoted on Egyptian websites stating that he had signed with the club and would go to the United States for a medical.

The club confirmed the defender has been offered a trial, not a contract. He is scheduled to join the team at its winter training camp base in Bradenton, Fla. in February.

The 30-year-old defender has made 52 appearances for the Egyptian national team and has played for various clubs in Turkey and in Africa.

He was loaned out to Premiership side Everton, but never played an EPL game for the Toffees, as he wa s let go for off-field incidents.

Saied has a history of leaving teams over disagreements with coaches and management — he is scouted as a solid defender whose career has been hurt by a terrible temper.

He last played for Al-Ahly, a team based in Tripoli, Libya.
