Olympic party space for rent in heritage building
Planner seeks last-minute corporate spendersBy BOB MACKIN, 24 HOURS
Marc Smith thinks he has a solution for cost-conscious companies or countries that have delayed their Olympic party-planning to the 11th hour. The Amuse Consulting president is transforming the 4,500 square foot Harrison Galleries into a turnkey "hospitality suite" that fits 250 people for cocktail parties, luncheons or news conferences during the Winter Olympics. The $18,500 to $25,000 daily package includes use of the space from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. with custom decorations, high definition TVs, a sound system, DJ, photographer, magician, cartoonist, doormen and bartenders. Food and drink are extra. "It would be nice for someone to come and buy the 17 days, but I'd like to have 17 different clients," Smith said. "I'd rather work with 17 different people and have a great experience." The red-brick heritage building at Homer and Smithe turns 100 in 2010. |
