VANOC made Olympic history Thursday with the opening of the Olympic Superstore at the Bay downtown.
The 2010 Winter Olympics will be the sixth Games with a flagship one-stop souvenir shop but the first inside a permanent building.
"This is such a key part of the Games from a customer experience stand- point," said VANOC merchandising director Dennis Kim.
More than 1,000 types of merchandise are for sale - including pins, mascot dolls and even $295 replicas of the Olympic torch - on 21,000 square feet of the main floor. Olympic sponsors Panasonic and Swatch have mini-departments plus there's a Coca-Cola Happiness Cafe. Only cash and Visa are accepted for payment.
