Fisher, Sens execs to carry Olympic Flame

By BRUCE GARRIOCH, QMI Agency

OTTAWA - Four members of the Ottawa Senators organization will carry the Olympic Torch as it moves through Gatineau and Ottawa.

Centre Mike Fisher, GM Bryan Murray, president Cyril Leeder and director of sales and corporate partnerships Bill Courchaine will be among those to carry the flame through the City of Ottawa on the weekend.

On Friday at approximately 6:50 p.m. ET, Fisher will be handed the torch from the Preservation Centre along Boulevard du Carrefour to the intersection of Boulevard de la Cite. A community celebration will be underway as the Olympic Flame arrives at Place de la Cite at 7 p.m. ET

On Saturday at approximately 12:10 p.m. ET, general manager Murray will carry the torch as the relay crosses the Alexandria Bridge to St. Patrick St. between the Samuel-de-Champlain Monument and Sussex Drive.

Fisher will be the second NHL player to carry the flame. Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby carried last month in his hometown. The torchbearers each carry the flame approximately 300 metres.
