If this whole ice-dancing thing doesn't work out for Scott Moir he can always turn to comedy.
The energetic and witty Moir, along with dance partner Tessa Virtue, kept the media entertained Tuesday, less than 24 hours after winning the gold medal.
The well-spoken 22-year-old, who had his hardware around his neck at the B.C. Media Centre, answered questions ranging from tattoos to a past desire to join SWAT. He also joked about wearing the medal for the next couple weeks, and allowing everyone in his hometown, Ilderton, Ontario, to touch it.
"That'll take about five minutes," he said with a laugh.
With the smiles of the skating pair still beaming, in true Canadian fashion they diverted the praise away from themselves.
"That's the best thing about winning a gold medal in Canada and having all these fans, this is for them. This is for all Canadians," said Moir. "This is for the 99-year-old grandpa sitting at home, watching TV and turning the hockey game to watch ice dance."
But his mood turned serious when talking about the importance of the “Own The Podium” program.
"I can honestly say that I won't have this [gold medal] in my hand without [the OTP] program," he said. "Skating is a very expensive sport, there's no way you can do it without help from your country."
